Hi my name is Gaboric Decker!

I am a class of 2021 kicker over at Doherty High school and I was born in Colorado Springs and have lived here all my life. I started sports playing soccer and played competitively for 10 years. It wasn’t until my freshmen year of high school that I decided to try out kicking.  Since then I’ve focused to better myself at kicking by putting my time and energy into improving. Besides practice we went to the Colorado Kicking clinic and worked with many peers as well as College kickers.

I have continued to improve each season and my freshmen year which was my first year in football I didn’t start on varsity, but I learned about the game and ended up playing the final two varsity games. My sophomore season was my first as the varsity kicker and I earned the starting spot and went 28 for 28 on PATs and was one of two kickers in the state to achieve 100% with over 20 kicks taken. I was voted 2nd team All-Conference. My junior season I won 1st team All Conference and was voted Special Teams MVP as well as earning All State First team Academic. I went 27 for 29 on PATs. This proved to me I am nowhere near perfect and need to keep improving. In addition to my accuracy my distance has also improved as I gained 400 more yards this season on kickoffs including multiple touchbacks. Our team did not attempt a lot of Field Goals, but my coaches have faith in me from 45yds and in. I would say I have vastly improved since my freshmen year but what I’ve found is there’s always new ways to get better! My goals for next season are to be consistent with my kickoffs in the form of touchbacks as well as giving our team a chance to score from beyond 50 yards.

I can honestly say that kicking has become my passion and I aspire to go to the next level. To obtain this goal of going to the next level I have been working on and off the field.

My overall academic GPA currently is a 4.43 and my PSAT score was a 1270. I am very proud of these numbers and look to maintain or even better them throughout the rest of my high school career.
